Waterford was among the 10 safest counties in the Republic when it came to road deaths in the State during 2009, according to the Road Safety Authority (RSA).
With four persons killed in road traffic-related accidents in 2009, Waterford placed joint fourth with Kilkenny on the RSA’s rankings.
Ahead of them were Longford and Leitrim (one death each), Carlow (two deaths) and a group of five counties (Wexford, Wicklow, Westmeath, Offaly and Roscommon) which recorded three deaths.
Dublin, hardly surprisingly, recorded the highest level of fatalities with 29, followed by Galway on 21, Cork on 18 and Limerick on 17. Tipperary was placed sixth overall with 13 deaths in 2009.
