Tributes were paid to Waterford County Manager Ray O’Dwyer at the conclusion of his final meeting as principal office holder at Waterford County Council’s September meeting.
Mayor Liam Brazil (FG) said that Mr O’Dwyer’s “door was always open” and described the departing manager as tough and fair, a man who treated everybody equally and never bent under pressure.
“From the outset of his appointment he got to know the staff working in Kilmacthomas, Lismore and Dungarvan and went onto set out his agenda for job creation, economic growth and sustainability.
I wish Mr. O’Dwyer and his family all the best.
Perhaps I am amiss in raising the question regarding Waterford County Council’s “missing millions”, however: would not the ‘issing millions’ or some €2.8 million in development charges outstanding since June 30th last be the responsibility of Mr. O’Dwyer as Waterford County Manager, and in that case how can Mr. O’Dwyer be reaping praise for retiring so conveniently?
