Tramore Town Council has sent out a ‘special plea’ to Waterford County Council to give generous financial support to the Copper Coast Geopark.
A motion to that effect, tabled by Cllr Joe Conway on account of the facility’s importance to the town of Tramore and its economy, was given full backing at the Town Council’s December meeting.
Cllr Conway said the Geopark was one of just two on this island and there were only 35 in the whole of Europe. They were seen as significant economic drivers and Waterford’s, which extends from Fenor to Stradbally and from there to the Comeragh Mountains, would enhance visitor numbers to Tramore, particularly in the school tourism market.
