It is hoped that the planned demolition of the South building at Strand Road in Tramore will bring an end to anti-social behaviour in its vicinity.

At the local Town Council’s April meeting on Tuesday night Town Manager Brian White reported that he had been in touch with the shopping centre developers in the area and they had undertaken to have the demolition job done by the end of the month.

They hoped to commence work on the shopping centre (in which Dunnes Stores are the proposed anchor tenants) at the end of the summer holidays and the project would take 18 months to complete.

Cllr. Lola O’Sullivan welcomed the fact that South was to be knocked and also that the developers were taking the summer season into account and not starting the building work, with all the heavy traffic it would entail, until afterwards.
