The screening of a poignant film documentary immortalising bachelor farmer life in the Comeraghs in the presence of the film’s producer and a food & culture evening, entitled Comeraghlicious, are two new events added to the programme for Comeraghs Wild Festival (19th-22nd September), organisers have announced.
The Brothers, a beautifully-filmed documentary set in the Comeraghs, takes an affectionate look at the lives of two elderly bachelors, Paddy and Nicholas Butler, who lived all their lives on an isolated farm. The half-hour film is a touching portrayal of the Waterford – and Ireland – of yesterday and a lifestyle that has now almost completely disappeared.
