Theatre Royal to close for summer

TheatreRoyalThere was widespread dismay amongst theatre-goers this week when they learned that no shows will be staged at Waterford’s Theatre Royal this summer.
Twenty-one full time and casual staff members, including six heads of department, are to be laid off for eight weeks without pay as part of the latest series of cost-cutting measures at the theatre.

There was a capacity audience at Garter Lane Arts Centre for An Audience with Sir Jonathan Miller and while many might have expected Sir Jonathan to display the traits that had him labelled  ‘King of Curmudgeons’ and ‘the most hilariously grumpy and acid tongued man in Britain’
