A Waterford District Court judge recently fined a man who failed to make a donation to the court poor box.
Arnold Chivhanga (27) of 49 Abbey Drive, Ferrybank, Waterford, was previously invited to make a €200 donation to the court poor box to avoid a conviction of possession of a controlled drug for personal use, contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977. The charge related to an incident that occurred on 10 June, 2025, in Waterford.
At a court sitting in March, Judge Kevin Staunton was told that the accused had failed to pay the donation.
The Judge imposed a conviction and a €150 fine.
