On Thursday last, President Michael D Higgins hosted the regional press, praising the industry for the vital community role it continues to play.
President Higgins stressed the intimate relationship that exists between titles including ours, the ‘Tribune’ in Galway and the ‘Champion’ in Clare to name but three.
President Higgins referred to the great trust people had in their local papers especially during a time of upheaval and change in media given the advance of social media and newspapers’ adaptation to the world of tablet and mobile.
Despite these changes, newspapers, including The Munster Express, still have an important, indeed, vital role to play in bringing local news to local readers.
Regional newspapers continue to play a vital role in supporting community initiatives, such as the Tidy Towns project we allied ourselves with in Tramore, focusing on the ongoing improvements of the Doneralie, where great progress has been made of late.
