A Waterford man was fined in court recently after he was found guilty of driving with no insurance.
Gerard O’Neill (31) of 99 Dominick Place, Waterford, appeared before Judge Kevin Staunton at a recent sitting of Waterford District Court, charged with driving with no insurance after he was stopped by Gardaí in the Cleaboy area of the city on 8 July this year.
The accused, who was present in court, said that he had just bought the car “a day or two prior” to being stopped, and that his policy had not been fully switched over yet. He produced an insurance certificate to Gardaí while in court, but it was stated that this was for a different vehicle to the one that was stopped.
Judge Staunton convicted the accused of driving without insurance and imposed a fine of €400, but did not disqualify the accused.
