A man appeared before Waterford District Court at the end of November, charged with the murder of Waterford city man Pat Fitzgerald last August.
David Norris (35) of 8 Assumption Terrace, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co. Wexford was charged with the murder of Mr. Fitzgerald at a residence in Saint Catherine’s Grange, Waterford city on 3 August.
The accused appeared before Judge Fiona Brennan for the matter at a sitting of Waterford District Court on Tuesday, 25 November.
Garda Kevin Cleere gave evidence to the court that he arrested and charged Mr. Norris over the matter on Tuesday morning, and it was stated that he made no reply to the charge.
Mr. Fitzgerald, who was in his 70s, passed away in hospital on 3 August, two days after he was assaulted. He was well known for his work as a former glass blower in Waterford Crystal, as well as being the union convenor for the company.
