Waterford’s minor hurlers travel to Croke Park this weekend knowing they are just 60 minutes away from a first All-Ireland final at this level since Waterford were beaten by Galway in the 1992 decider. Back then just as was the case this year, the Munster Final ended in a draw. In 1992 just as was the case in 2013, the replay took place on a ‘work’ evening. In 1992, Waterford had to beat Tipperary to advance to the next phase of the competition as there was no luxury of a second chance system for sides that were beaten.
A meeting with near neighbours Kilkenny this weekend will not be easy for the Deise.
