SarahMurphyRoseThe Rose of Tralee event attracted a large attendance at the Woodlands Hotel on Friday night last with over 200 watching the contest, which saw Dungarvan woman Sarah Murphy win the Waterford section. She will go onto an area final in Port Laoise, primary school teacher from Dungarvan, She works in Skibereen in West Cork, but came home for the event, with Dungarvan Mortgage Centre being her sponsor.
It was a highly entertaining show with M.C. Brendan Hennessey putting on a great show with wit and skill, he made the contestants relax easily and with a great sense of humour it had the crowd laughing frequently.
Brendan would be a strong runner with the Waterford Rose organisers for the TV job in Tralee, so well did he do it, he knew all the areas of Waterford, Carlow man, he knew the local rivalries well, a DJ with KCLR, he also works with Setanta Sport.
The slagging was good and even the escorts were interviewed with Fenor man, Tommy Murphy getting nomination to be an escort in Tralee, a JCB driver and a jet skier, he had lots of good tales.
Waterford had the biggest number of escorts of all the counties, no shyness here it seems and they enjoyed even if M.C. Brendan gave some of them more banter than expected.See The Munster Express newspaper for full story.
