IT’S a simple act but one which is huge in symbolism.
On Saturday May 11th, hundreds of people will gather in locations throughout the country to begin a special walk in the dark at 4am and finish as the sun is rising.
Dungarvan is one of 20 venues nationwide which will hold a Darkness into Light 5km Walk supported by Electric Ireland
in aid of Pieta House in order to raise awareness of suicide and to remember those who have lost their lives through suicide.
The Waterford walk, which will be staged in Dungarvan for the second time, was launched last week at The Park Hotel.
“The walk symbolises beautifully the work that Pieta does in helping people return from the darkest of places to a place where they can see some light in their lives again,” said Chair of the Déise Darkness into Light Committee Niamh Connolly.
Last year, more than 400 people participated in the Dungarvan walk.
