A woman who admitted using threatening and abusive language and behaviour towards Gardaí had her case struck out last week after she made an apology.
Sarah Lawrence (31) of Flat 7, 11 O’Connell St, Waterford was charged with using abusive and threatening language and behaviour in a public place, contrary to Section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, relating to an incident that took place at Waterford Garda Station on 25 September, last.
At a sitting of Waterford District Court last week, it was stated that on the day in question, the accused, who was at the station for an unrelated matter, became “abusive and threatening” towards Gardaí and other members of the public who were present there.
The defendant was represented in court by solicitor Kenneth Cunningham, who said that his client was pleading guilty and was “accepting that her emotions got the better of her” on the day.
Mr. Cunningham highlighted that the accused apologised to Gardaí at the station three hours later and is “embarrassed” over the matter. It was noted in court that she has two previous convictions.
Considering the fact that the accused made an apology, Judge Kevin Staunton struck out the matter.
