Waterford City and County Council has reminded farmers of restrictions on organic fertiliser (e.g. Slurry, Soiled Water & Manure) spreading within 48 hours of heavy rain.
Following Storm Chandra, Met Éireann has issued a further Status Yellow Rain Warning for Waterford from 00:00 Thursday (January 29th) to 00:00 Friday (January 30th) forecasting heavy rain and showers falling on already saturated ground.
Under the European Union (Good Agricultural Practice for Protection of Waters) Regulations 2022, organic and chemical fertilisers or soiled water shall not be applied to land when it is snow-covered, frozen, or waterlogged or when heavy rain is forecast within 48 hours.
