Samaritans is the nationwide charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection. We support all areas and any aspect of human need through connection.
Fintan Duffy, Branch Director with Waterford and the Southeast Samaritans, said: “Samaritans Awareness Day is such an important date for us – we want to get the message out that Samaritans are here 24 hours a day for anyone in crisis and struggling to cope on freephone 116 123”.

“It remains a challenging time for many people, and we want to remind the public that they are not alone. Our volunteers are available at any time of day or night, no matter what they are facing. We are also there to support those who are supporting others,” said Fintan.
“We also want people to support us on 24th July when volunteers will be raising awareness of our service at 16 Beau Street, Waterford City.”
To mark 24/7 Awareness Day on 24th July, a Beech tree was delivered to the branch at 16 Beau Street by the wonderful DHL delivery agent, Cian. This tree is proudly placed in the branch patio for the moment and is planned to be used to symbolise many upcoming occasions throughout the year, raising awareness in the locality of our presence to the public and as a reminder that we are always there to support.

Newly delivered baby Beech tree.
