SETU and the Pensions Authority (PA) have jointly  hosted  a pension policy workshop for stakeholders at the Authority's office on Lr Mount Street, Dublin. The event was opened by Dr Tom O'Toole (head of the Faculty of Business) and Brendan Kennedy (The Pensions Regulator) both of whom welcomed this pension policy dialogue initiative. The purpose of the event was to explore recent developments domestically and internationally, examine areas for further research and promote the exchange of views in a purposeful manner among the principal actors in the  pension system.

Presentations were made by Andrew Nugent (PA), Jessica Mosher (OECD), Tara Fennelly (SETU  research student), John Maher (SETU )and Hayley James (Aston University).  Topics addressed included Consolidation within the Pension System, Automatic Enrolment, Decumulation, Risk, Young Women's Pension Planning, Retirement Income levels and the framing of Pension Decision Making. 

There was lively and informed discussion among attendees and speakers. Participants came from Insurance Ireland, the Society of Actuaries, the Irish Association of Pension Funds, the Department of Social Protection, ICTU, IBEC, the National Women's Council, the Pension Council, the Association of Pension Lawyers in Ireland, as well as several University researchers. Planning and coordination for the event was undertaken by Dr Rosemarie Kelly and John Maher (SETU) and Andrew Nugent ( Pensions Authority). Attendees were supportive of hosting a similar event in 2026.
