SFC QFinal Stradbally v Ballinameela Stradbally 1-13
Ballinameela 1-03
Three years ago when these sides met in the SFC semi-final, Stradbally conceded a  late goal to fall behind and then needed an even later point to secure a draw.
But those turning up at Fraher Field on Saturday last for the first of the day’s three  games hoping to see a similar result were left disappointed as the reigning  champions ran out worthy winners with 10 points to spare.
Robert Aherne finished as top scorer for Stradbally in this game with a tally of 1-4  all from play behind his name, but it was goalkeeper Oliver Costello that the Cove  men will be most indebted to as he made a string of fine saves.
This game was literally all over at the break as the holders went in with a 10-point  lead.
Right from the start, the Covemen stated their intentions as Michael Walsh kicked a point inside two minutes of the game starting.
John Coffey added another for Stradbally to double their lead before Jim Curran struck for the 2012 Intermediate champions’ only score of the half.
