Waterford 4-20
Antrim 1-9
Waterford, as expected, kept their All-Ireland Minor Championship ambitions intact after a 20-point victory over Antrim at the splendidly appointed Donaghmore Ashbourne grounds in last Sunday’s quarter-final. However, the result itself was not officially sanctioned until Monday due to a 55th minute injury to Antrim full-forward Jude McCurdy, who sustained a neck injury that led to the match being ended ahead of time by referee Justin Heffernan. Despite a spirited effort from Antrim, particularly over the match’s opening 20 minutes, a Waterford side in its sixth summer outing was always going to have too much for their Ulster opponents. And that duly proved to be the case in front of a crowd of several hundred, most of them sporting white and blue.
