Waterford’s hopes of emerging from Division Four were somewhat dented on Saturday evening last when they lost out to Limerick in Fraher Field by just two points. Both sides, along with Carlow went into the third series of games in the NFL league with two wins from two game. And with a series of games against each other and against Offaly who are expected to be challenging for the two available promotion spots to come up, whoever emerged with a win last Saturday was certainly going to strengthen their hopes of promotion.
Waterford have received some good reviews for the way they have set about things this year, but sadly this was, for both sides, Division Four football at its very worst. Neither goalkeeper was tested in this game and for long periods were mere passengers, and when they were called upon what they were asked to do proved to be little more than bread and butter stuff.
