Two stunning goals from Orla Tebay and Laura O’Neill paved the way for Johnville to lift the Waterford Ladies cup in this entertaining final played at the RSC on Sunday last.
Grannagh came into the game as red hot favourites as they held the upper hand on Johnville in both their league meetings.
However it’s fair to say that over the course of the game it was Johnville’s day as never looked in danger of losing the tie.
Grannagh gave everything they had but they came up against a Johnville team who were determined not to finish the season empty handed, with Johnville Chairman Anthony Browne full of praise at full-time.
“They are really delighted with this victory because over the course of the season there was not a kick off a ball between the two teams,” he said.
“Grannagh never stopped trying and that is something we expected from them, bur our girls really wanted to win today. They have been together for only three years and are learning all the time and to win the cup this year is fantastic.”
