Government Chief Whip & Minister for Mental Health, Mary Butler T.D, is reminding students and families in Waterford that the deadline for SUSI grant applications is Thursday, 6 November.

The Waterford Minister stated: “SUSI makes a real difference for students in Waterford and across Ireland and I want to ensure that no one misses out on a support they may be entitled to.”

She highlighted that more students than ever now qualify for SUSI and she encouraged families to check their eligibility.

“Even if you’re unsure whether you qualify, it’s absolutely worth checking. The income thresholds have changed, and many more households are now eligible for support. My office is available to assist anyone who may wish to follow up on an application.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, students from households with a reckonable income below €115,000 may be entitled to assistance.

Minister Butler concluded: “Fianna Fáil is the party of education. Together with my colleague, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, James Lawless, we will do everything I can to help ease the financial pressure on families and students. Going to college or university is a proud moment for any family and we need to ensure that every student and every household receives the support they need”.

Students who miss the 6 November deadline may still request a late application if their circumstances have changed, or they face extenuating circumstances.

Late requests can be submitted using the Late Application Request Form available at www.susi.ie and emailed to lateapplications@susi.ie.
