Two young children have been taken to hospital this morning (Friday, 20 March) after they fell from an apartment balcony in Waterford City.
At around at 10.40 am, a seven-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy fell from the balcony at Block C, Mount Suir Apartments which are located at Bawndaw, Gracedieu, just off the Carrickphierish Road. The children have since been transported to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) for treatment of their injuries.
Emergency services, including ambulances, fire units, Gardaí, and representatives from Waterford City and County Council, who have ownership of the apartment block, attended the scene.
It is understood that Garda forensic investigators are currently examining the scene and the balcony from where the children fell.

The extent of the children’s injuries is currently unknown.
A spokesperson for Waterford Council told The Munster Express: “Waterford City and County Council was notified of a serious incident at the Mount Suir Apartment complex in Waterford City on Friday, 20 March”.
“The Council has reached out to the family to offer support and a formal investigation into the incident has commenced,” the council spokesperson added.
The Garda Press Office confirmed to this newspaper: “Shortly before 11.00 am this morning, Friday, 20th March, Gardaí in Waterford assisted other agencies in responding to a medical emergency at a residential property at Mount Suir, Waterford”.
The Garda spokesperson added: “An Garda Síochána has no additional information regarding the incident”.
