The Waterford Branch of the Irish Kidney Association (IKA) would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Youthreach Subla Centre in Waterford for hosting us recently. We were incredibly grateful to accept a generous cheque from the LCA students who partnered with us as part of their Enterprise module this year.

The students worked hard to make this partnership a success. They visited local businesses leading up to Shrove Tuesday, with order forms for freshly made pancakes, which were delivered with all the necessary toppings on the day. They also made beautiful green, white, and gold plaits for St. Patrick’s Day. These were displayed in timber boxes  made by the students in woodwork class. We are especially grateful to Spar in Ballybeg for their kindness in displaying and selling the plaits on behalf of the Irish Kidney Association.

It was a true pleasure to meet the students and commend them not only for their culinary and creative skills but also for their dedication to supporting our cause. We would also like to recognize their teacher, Maria O’Shea Enright, who guided them through the entire process.

Our Chairperson, Ray Halligan, expressed our sincere appreciation to the students and took the opportunity to highlight the importance of “having the conversation” with loved ones about organ donation. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the students on behalf of the branch.

A big thank you for the warm reception we received from the staff, the tea cakes and chat were much appreciated.

The Waterford Branch executive committee would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in raising funds for our local branch. Your generosity and hard work are deeply appreciated.
