I was delighted to recently avail of this package and visit with my school friend Patrick.
On arrival at Creacon, we were immediately impressed by the manicured grounds and the imposing façade of this country manor style premises.

After stepping inside, we instantly felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere thanks to the pleasant disposition of the staff members. At reception, Veronica gave us a brief history of Creacon and outlined the many different treatments and therapies on offer.A specific juicing programme can be availed of at Creacon and we were replenished on our arrival with a refreshing carrot and ginger juice. Juicing is said to have many benefits including improving immunity, rejuvenating skin, clearing out toxins, boosting your immune system, promoting weight management and increasing energy levels.
After being shown to our room, we adjusted to our new surroundings and were given a tour of the premises by Salvo, the friendly Manager at Creacon.
He showed us the impressive Healing Hut, which is located outside and contains an infrared sauna which uses heat and light to help relax and detoxify the body.Infrared saunas are said to provide many benefits including better sleep, relaxation, detoxification, weight loss, relief from sore muscles, relief from joint pain such as arthritis, clear and tighter skin and improved circulation. As we relaxed in the sauna, the background music emanating around us added to the tranquil atmosphere.
Next, we had an opportunity to use the Dream-Spa which is a phototherapy machine that uses light to create energy in the body and is believed to have many benefits for energy, sleep and stress reduction. After these relaxing experiences, we prepared for dinner which was served at 6pm.There is just one sitting for dinner (but has a full a la carte menu available for people just coming in for lunch and dinner that is available from 12pm to 7.30pm) at Creacon and guests are encouraged to mingle with each other. Many solo travellers visit Creacon and we chatted with an American tourist who was travelling around Ireland as well as a guest from Dublin who was interested in learning about how the treatments and therapies on offer could help living with her medical condition.
The food at Creacon remains true to the venue’s overall holistic approach. As part of the ‘Food is Medicine’ Programme, meals are designed to promote health and nutrition with quality ingredients sourced from the garden as well as local suppliers. After dinner, it was time for Heartful Meditation with Phil. She eased us into the meditation process with her dulcet tones and relaxing music and it wasn’t long before snores were emerging from some of my fellow meditators. We later enjoyed some Himalayan tea and biodynamic wine at the small bar where Marcela expertly and passionately explained the background stories associated with our chosen drinks. At Creacon, guests are asked to retire to their rooms by 10pm.
Before you recoil in horror at such a thought, it’s important to remember that this is an integral part of the overall atmosphere of relaxation and wellness that is promoted at Creacon.
Spending time in your bedroom isn’t a chore when you are luxuriating in such beautiful surroundings.
We had great intentions of utilising the small gym located a short distance down the corridor from our bedroom – however those intentions never became a reality! The next morning, after a beautiful night’s sleep, we indulged in a sumptuous breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs before later engaging in Tibetan Rites Yoga with Jonathan who certainly put us through our paces. As a newbie to Yoga, I resembled a contortionist as I grappled with some of the positions which were quite challenging but achievable nonetheless. After a small break, it was back to the Meditation Hall again for Tibetan Singing Bowls Meditation with Suzanne. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Creacon and departed this haven feeling reenergised and reinvigorated. Keen to prolong our peaceful and relaxed temperament, we took a short drive to the incredible Hook Head where we felt at one with nature as the waves crashed against this stunning peninsula.
