On Saturday last at the All-Ireland Universities Championships in the Antrim Forum, Cara Kennedy from Ferrybank (competing as a guest) threw the hammer a distance of 55.80m, which won her the competition and has qualified her for the European Junior Championships later this summer in Estonia.
Last year she had quite a few throws close to the qualification (55m or over) and it didn’t come as a great surprise to her mentors that she achieved the standard so early in the season.
