County Waterford has been saddled with 40 ‘ghost housing estates’ since the downturn of the construction industry, Waterford County Council learned last week.
Work has re-started on 13 unfinished housing estates, according to senior executive Engineer Eamon Lonergan.
“We have encountered great difficulties in contacting some developers and we’ve invoked the security bonds of eight developers on unfinished estates,” he said, with the Council active in respect of 10 sites.
