The Waterford man who was mauled to death by dogs at a farm in Malaysia on Sunday last was a member of a well known and highly respected Ferrybank family. Maurice Sullivan (50), Marymount, was son of Mrs Nora Sullivan and the late David Sullivan and he had been traveling with his Polish girlfriend, Agnieszka Jablonska (28), on the northern island of Penang when the tragedy occurred. They had been living in the Galway area prior to their trip.

Both were involved in volunteer environmental work and had gone to the farm with the permission of the owner to photograph trees in an orchard. It is understood that Mr Sullivan died as a result of severe haemorrhage due to multiple injuries from the dogs’ bites.
