The Ranting Rebels Theatre Group got a standing ovation at Garter Lane for the excellent acting in their production of Conor McPherson’s The Seafarer. Under Peter McKenzie Brown’s uncluttered direction, this story of a drunken card game on Christmas Eve manages to steer a safe passage between too much comedy, enough reality and an allegorical tale about the devil playing a drunk for his soul.
