Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) 1-11;

University of Limerick (UL) 1-9

(Abandoned and conceded to UL)

Waterford IT were two points to the good against University of Limerick at the Newtownshandrum club grounds on Saturday evening last when referee Diarmuid Kirwan halted proceedings due to heavy fog.
The Munster Council re-fixed the game for this Friday evening at a Waterford venue with the winners down to play Cork in Pairc Uí Rinn this Sunday afternoon in the semi finals.
However, news broke on Sunday night that WIT had conceded a walkover to the Shannonsiders due to Fitzgibbon Cup outings against UCD this Thursday and Limerick IT on Wednesday next.
UL’s Tommy Connors was first to raise a green flag in this game but was cancelled out ten minutes into the second half when Kieran Grehan goaled to give WIT a 1-9 to 1-7 lead.
Both sides went on to add a brace of points each in the next ten minutes before Kirwan brought proceedings to a conclusion 10 minutes from the end of the allotted time.
