Less than a week after John Kiely indicated his intention to continue at the helm, former Tipperary player and manager John Owens has been named as the new boss of the Waterford Senior Football team.

A native of County Down, Owens, who works as Financial Controller with the Pinewood Healthcare Company in Ballymacarbry, has the distinction of capturing senior championship medals in three different counties.
