While many local authorities are desperately seeking finance to fund various projects, Tramore Town Council, happily, has the opposite problem – it is attempting to identify a project on which to spend its money.
Cash rich ever since selling a site to the South Eastern Health Board twenty years ago, it now has €20,000 to spare, after financially aiding a whole list of developments – and even when the €20,000 is splashed there will still be €17,000 in the bank for rainy days ahead.
The situation was outlined by Town Manager Brian White at the Council’s June meeting and after Cllr. Ann Marie Power advocated spending rather than saving, he invited the members to come back to him with suggestions as to how they might most wisely do so.
Why don’t they spend the money repairing the road where I live in Cairndubh. The entrance is now a disgrace and also I asked the council for waste bins for the green area and I was refused. What’s the point in telling the kids to put your rubbish in the bin when we don’t have them. Today a sweet paper tomorrow a fridge. At the six cross roads I was told in the 60s to put your rubbish in the bin but now the council wont even give a bin.
