A court fine was handed to a woman this month for driving without displaying an insurance disc on her vehicle.

Mary Bernadette McGuinness (63) of 1 Colimore Road, Dalkey, Dublin, failed to appear at a sitting of Waterford District Court at the beginning of March before Judge Kevin Staunton. She was charged with non-display of an insurance disc while driving, relating to an incident where she was stopped by Gardaí on 11 August 2025, on the N29 road near Rathpatrick, Co. Kilkenny.

The court was told that the accused was issued with a fixed charge penalty notice, but this subsequently went unpaid.

Judge Staunton noted that the accused was not present in court, and handed down a €300 fine for the offence.
