Waterford District Court was recently told that a man was driving over 130 km/h on the N25 last year.

Jimmy Murphy (29) of 33 Woodbine Close, New Ross, Co. Wexford, made no appearance at a court sitting this month before Judge Kevin Staunton, where he was charged with driving while exceeding a national road speed limit.

The court was told that after 11.00pm on 19 August 2025, Gardaí were carrying out a checkpoint on the N25 road near Ballyshunnock, Co. Waterford, when they observed the accused driving 136 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A fixed charge penalty that was sent to the accused went unpaid, and he was issued with a court summons.

Judge Staunton noted the accused was not present in court, and handed down a €300 fine for the matter.
