Waterford’s Metropolitan District is being ‘sold short’ in terms of its funding for roads’ repairs, a councillor has said.
Independent Joe Kelly raised the issue at a recent meeting of the Metropolitan District, when he revealed that the entire area, which includes the city, Tramore, Dunmore and Passage, received just 29% of the overall roads budget. Cllr Kelly said some of the city’s roads are in a dreadful condition.
The ‘skewed’ funding allocations, Cllr Kelly said, came to light during a recent workshop on the Roads Plan for 2015, when a number of councillors had queried how the spend was being divided up.
