Every day for the vast majority of my working life, I’ve had the pleasure of casting my eyes upon the magnificent Granary building on the opposite side of Hanover Street.
What was a lamentable ruin for decades is now one of the most impressive buildings on the Quayside and long may that remain the case.
But the building’s primary and secondary functions will soon change, possibly to the detriment of the part of the city that this column knows best.
